How Do We Work?

"Editing feels almost like sculpting or a form of continuing the writing process." - Sydney Pollack

We don't mess around. Successful video projects require creativity, intuition, military planning and precise execution. This is what we do, and we're rather good at it.

The more clear your vision and the more detail you give us in the brief, the more accurately we can quote for your project and the quicker we can reach the planning and execution stage.

We're happy to bounce ideas around in the initial stages of production, but last minute additions and major deviations from initial brief can work out expensive. Try to have a good pre-production plan and stick to it.

The overall aims of the project

Certain things to consider are:
  • Purpose
What do you need this piece of video to communicate?
  • Target Audience
Who is going to be watching and why?
  • Goals
What do you want to achieve from the communication?

There are many other areas to discuss around these points, but these are crucial at concept.

Down to the nitty gritty..planning is everything. Poorly planned projects rarely become easy productions. The end result suffers and the money you're spending isn't used wisely. Give us the time, information and resources we need to nail this one down, you won't regret it.

  • We may, at times, seem a royal pain in the rear during the prepro stages; constantly asking for this and that and sucking away at your precious day like annoying time vampires. Bear with us. Our singular aim is to ensure that you get what you want.
  • If you have any questions or doubts about anything...NOW is the time to air them. Please don't wait until we're on-set or location to mention that you don't like the colour palette we agreed on.
  • If you have any ideas that you think might help, shout out. We're not complete dictators...although we may take credit and pretent your solution to any problem was ours.

We got this. Having learnt from years of various styles and levels of shoot, we know that our planning will be exemplary. Should anything slip through the net or minor difficulties surface, we jump all over them...quickly and efficiently.

So, we had an amazing shoot which went completely to our's the time to realise that concept with some slick post-production wizardry.

Initial assembly comes first, where we put together a sketch of the video without the twinkly bits. This will seem a little rough (it's AKA is a rough cut) and we're just taking a little time to make sure that the content structure is correct and as we'd agreed previously. This will be made available through a password-protected Vimeo link.

Once we're agreed on structure, we colour correct the separate takes / sections to give image consistency then lock picture and move on to sound.

Sound is often overlooked but hugely important part of any video, equally as important as the image. We take the recorded sound and lovingly craft it into more than the sum of it's parts. The addition of a well chosen music bed can give many videos a dynamic edge.

Finally we build any motion graphic elements you asked for and add them in before grading the whole edit according to our initial discussions on style.

This v1 edit is uploaded to our Vimeo channel for you to make any minor amends to. You have the opportunity to do this twice, before heading into further charges territory.

Once we're all agreed on how fantabulous the video is, we render out the agreed resolution / bitrate versions for you and send them over digitally.

Feel free to say how awesome we were throughout.
